Logee's Tropical Plants Catalog Review - Examining the Printed Catalog
Number and Plant Pictures: Rating 5. The Fall 2008 catalog added 39 new plants and products, bringing the total number of plants featured in this catalog to over 190 tropicals, succulents and houseplants. Gardeners will appreciate that each plant mentioned in the catalog has an accompanying photograph.
Plant Descriptions and Cultivation Information: Rating 5. A beginner gardener will be able to easily select the right plants to try in various locations throughout his home, sunporch, patio or greenhouse. Each plant in the Logee catalog includes a key telling a gardener the needed light conditions, temperature requirements, mature size, hardiness zones and when each plant can be expected to bloom. Another set of icons tells gardeners whether the plant is an easy grower, fragrant, works nicely in a hanging basket, can be grown as a bonsai or in a terrarium.
Gardening Tips: Rating 4. Many of the plants have descriptions which include tips for growing the plants successfully or encouraging blooms in more difficult plants. For some of the harder to grow tropicals, additional information will likely be needed.
Prices and Discounts: Rating 4. The Logee prices are reasonable, considering the rarity of many of the plants available.
Plant or Garden Packages: Rating 4. The gift packs and combinations that are available are very nice but there are only a handful and some beginners might want more discount, starter packs.
Organizational Structure: Rating 4. The Logee plant catalog is well organized with a table of contents in the front, icon keys at the bottom of every page, and headings on each page. Only a plant index seems to be missing from the catalog.

Number of Plants and Pictures: Rating 5. There are 650 plants available on the Logee's website. Each plant (and each of the 100 plant-related items for sale) has a photo with it.
Plant Descriptions and Cultivation Information: Rating 5. As with Logee's catalog, the website provides descriptions and growing information for every plant. Many of the most popular plants also include cultivation information sheets with more detailed maintenance tips!
Organizational Structure: Rating 5. Gardeners will appreciate the many ways to locate plants on the Logee's Tropicals website. Sort plants according to several categories, such as edible and fruiting plants, indoor and windowsill plants, cacti and succulents, vines and climbers, herbs and spices, and more. Search plants according to growing conditions like bloom time, sun requirements, hardiness zones and plant type for even greater flexibility.
Informational Articles and Other Features: Rating 4. Several of the plants species do have cultural and growing information sheets that can be accessed when viewing that particular plant. Gardeners might like to have these in a more readily accessible section of the website without having to browse through each plant.

Any special features or focuses for the company? Logee’s offers tropical plants that can be grown inside or outside in containers. Whether a customer chooses to grow these plants inside or outside depends largely on the season and the USDA hardiness zone.
